They have a great lunch deal! ¥1000 for a really tasty curry dish. Very flavorful and healthy. I loved the ambiance of the cafe too! I was excited to see some gluten free options such as the matcha muffin, but it was actually a bit dry for my liking. The roasted almond gelato was interesting, but not creamy enough. If you come, I would just order the curry lunch!! I came back a second time just for the curry lunch and it’s still so good. It’s balanced and healthy and everything I want from a lunch. I love the quiet atmosphere and the wooden furniture.

Malda hotel is everything one can ask for on a trip in Kyoto. The locations is very central, minutes walk to the nearest subway station and walking distances to many attractions in the downtown area like Nishiki Market, Kamo River, Sanjo Shotengai shopping district and more. The staff are super helpful and sweet, we can not ask for better service than what we have received. The minimalistic room is so beautiful and filled with all the amenities a minimalist needs. A kitchen with an electric stovetop, water boiler, fridge, coffee drip, tea pot, coffee & tea. There is a beautiful dining table where breakfast is served every morning, in your room. The bathroom has both a shower and a bath tub, cleaning products and hair dryer, Tooth brushes and toothpaste are not provided so bring your own. There are two double beds, I like the firmness of the beds. A clothing rack for hanging and a small iron is available if you need to do some ironing. Traditional Japanese pajamas are also provided. My partner and I have many dietary requests due to my gluten intolerance and allergies, the chefs at Malda made the most amazing breakfasts despite of our requests. We stayed for 4 days and enjoyed different dishes everyday. The first floor is the Malda Cafe open to public, they serve vegetarian curries, vegan sweet, coffe, tea and organic wine. There is one gluten-free muffin option. I would give Malda more than 5 stars if I could, and would definitely return to stay if I’m visiting Kyoto again.

This is the very high quality cafe which they only serve organic food. The concepts(eat well, live well) are coming from Jurgen Lehl who is the fashion & textile designer. I visited before covid and had lunch menu. Their curry was so refreshing! I hope I can go back after Covid is more relieved. :))

True gem of coffee shops in the area. All the dishes are carefully prepared and so good. I had a curry and rice for lunch and it was excellent. Side condiments are all house made and great. Decor of the shop is just like a room Jurgen would have created, very comfortable space. Their baked goods are excellent without use of sugar. I will be here everyday if I live near.

Today we visited this small and cute #cafe. The total sitting is 10 people with 2 tables that only allow you to sit by yourself. Otherwise, you need to share the table of 6 with separated by plastic dividers. I have ordered the cookie set and tea. I found it a bit #overpriced. I have received 2 tiny cookies and they were quite hard. So l soften with my tea to eat them. But my cousin ordered Kare and she said it is quite tasty. You can go for the Kare Menu but definitely not cookie

Right! “— How many good places (cafés, etc.) do you want to have per square kilometer? — Yes!” Somewhat unique and interesting interior, relaxed atmosphere. Nice rustic/traditional-feel cakes. Good and interesting selection of herbal teas!
